Recap & Photo Editing
Mark Krancer moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 2014 and instantly fell in love with the beauty of the area. The very first day, he passed the “Life” statue in Memorial Park and knew Riverside was where he wanted to be. Whether a historic landmark, the activity of the river, or sweeping cityscapes, Mark saw potential – and Jacksonville’s beauty opened a long-held passion.
Shortly after, he began recording the spirit of the city and surrounding area through his photography. Since then, his love for the area has only grown. Mark deeply appreciates natural beauty when he sees it whether an inspiring sunrise on the St. John’s river, a dockside seascape, a romantic nightscape, or a moving train.
July 2015 saw the creation of Kram Kran Photo. In August 2015, Mark displayed a variety of photographic works at the downtown Jacksonville Library in a month-long exhibit. May to August 2016 marked the first of several rotating and permanent exhibits in which he was prominently featured in the Jacksonville International Airport. He finds passion for his work everywhere and eagerly seeks the next opportunity to capture beauty and bring art to walls.
On September 11, 2017, Hurricane Irma hit Jacksonville and devastated many areas of the city – including Memorial Park. Mark trekked out into the waters this day, sometimes waist-deep to capture the hurricane’s torrent. In a fateful moment, he shot what many consider to be the most iconic photo of Northeast Florida during Hurricane Irma, now known as “Life In The River”. By donating a portion of the sales proceeds from this stunning photograph back to the Memorial Park Association, Mark has been instrumental in helping to rebuild his city’s beloved World War I tribute.
Mark won “Best Photographer” Jacksonville.com‘s 2018 Bold City Best competition, and went full time into his professional photography career. In 2019, Mark became a member of the Professional Photographers of America Association, founded in 1868. In 2020, Mark was honored with several artworks permanently exhibited in the new Jacksonville Regional Transportation Center. Mark was also honored with the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville’s 2020 Art Award for “The Art Of Giving” for his philanthropic endeavors. He also became an official brand ambassador for Guy Harvey Outposts, where he showcases Florida’s natural beauty through his lens and teaches others.
Mark is often featured in art shows and exhibits in and around North East Florida and can be found at Riverside Arts Market during the holidays. Email Mark for his current schedule of events or visit www.kramkranphoto.com for more information and to view Mark’s work.
